Southby came and went
April 2, 2009
Another year, another great SXSW. It gets bigger every year, and it really isn’t the same experience as it was four or five years ago when it was a bit smaller. That’s not to say that there isn’t anything to be gained.
Why keep going?
Now that I’ve been back for a bit, I keep thinking back to a moment during the Developing Super Senses: Tools to Know Your Users panel moderated by Mark Trammell. When the discussion came around to how to keep the people on your team excited and motivated to do their best on projects, Andy Budd put it best. If you have to motivate your designers or developers to get them to do great work, then you’re hiring the wrong people. I couldn’t agree more. I’m as passionate about design as I’ve ever been and it’s great to meet people that share that passion and drive.
Every year, I take a look around as Austin is transformed into geek central for several days and realize these are the people that are shaping the future of the web. And that gets me really excited.
My only regret is that it only happens once a year.
